The Lexus LS is classified under the category of full-sized luxury car, known as Toyota C and has its assembly plant at the Tahara, Aichi in Japan.

The Lexus LS model was first introduced in 1989 by the Toyota Motor Corporation. The Lexus LS variant is designed based on the four door sedan body style, with the front engine layout and provides either all wheel drive or the rear wheel drive.

The Japanese Lexus LS serves as the flagship model in the luxury division of Toyota vehicles. All the models have been equipped with the V8 engine. The first Lexus-LS 400 was launched as the marquee model in 1989. The first production Lexus LS 460 offered with the automatic parking system and the 8-speed automatic transmission. The V8 hybrid powertrain engines were in the model year 2007 on the Lexus LS 600h and Lexus LS 600h L versions.

The production of the Lexus LS started in 1983 under the project name F1 and took five years for its design process and ultimately launched in 1989. Since the beginning of the model production all the generation models have been manufactured in Tahara, Aichi in Japan.

First generation (1989-1994)

The production of the first model aimed in world class luxury sedan model intended for the international markets. The car was designed by Ichiro Suzuki, a chief engineer, including the cabin, top speed, fuel efficiency and the aero dynamic exterior.

The Lexus LS 400 version was launched at the North American International Auto show in January, 1989 as a model vehicle for 1990. It came with the 4.0 liter 1UZ-FE V8 engine containing 32 valves and produces power of 190 kilo watts and torque of 353 Newton meters.

Second Generation (1994-2000).

The second generation model was launched with the same features in its predecessor except the longer wheel base. It came with the 4.0 liter 1UZ-FE V8 engine model capable of generating 194 kilo watts of power and torque of 366 Newton meters.
The second generation model was lighter in weight by 95 kilo grams when compared with its predecessor model. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kilo meters in a time span of just 7.5 seconds.

Third generation (2000-2006)

The third generation Lexus LS was introduced in January, 2000 as a 2001 model vehicle, at the North American International Auto Show. It was equipped with the 4.3 liter 3UZ-FE engine producing 216 kilo watts of power and 434 Newton meters of torque. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 kilo meters per hour in a time span of just 6.7 seconds.

Fourth Generation (2006-present)

The Lexus LS concept car premiered with gasoline-electric engine was launched in October, 2005 as the 2006 model vehicle at the Tokyo Motor Show in Japan. The vehicle is offered in two engines- 4.6 liter 1UR-FSE V8 and the 4.6 liter 1UR-FE V8 engine. It is also offered with the 8-speed AA80E automatic transmission.
